Christina M. Ohnsman, MD

Dr. Christina Ohnsman is a pediatric ophthalmologist, specializing in comprehensive eye care for infants, children, and adolescents. A graduate of New Jersey Medical School, she received her training in ophthalmology at the University of Cincinnati. She then completed a one-year fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology at Children's Hospital Medical Center of Cincinnati, consistently one of US News and World Report's Best Children's Hospitals in the nation. A native of Philadelphia, she returned closer to home in 1994 to begin her career here in Berks County. She established this practice in 1996 in order to provide the ultimate in personalized children's eye care. She has also served on the Pediatric Ophthalmology faculty at Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia.
Dr. Ohnsman is the author of a number of papers and book chapters on the topic of conjunctivitis, and is a national speaker on this disease state.
Dr. Ohnsman lives in Wyomissing with her husband, Rev. Dr. Steve Ohnsman, and their two children. In 2016, she sold the practice and retired from the practice of medicine. She now focuses on medical education and research.

Maria Barbe, MD, specializes in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Adult Strabismus. She began her medical training in the accelerated, 6-year combined biomedical program at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY. Dr. Barbe graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology. She then earned her doctor of medicine degree from Albany Medical College in Albany, New York.
Dr. Barbe completed her preliminary medicine internship at the Medical Center Hospital of Vermont in Burlington, Vermont. She continued her training with an Ophthalmology residency at Albany Medical Center/Lions Eye Institute in Albany, New York, where she served as chief resident during the final year. Dr. Barbe completed fellowship training in pediatric ophthalmology and adult strabismus at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa.
She serves as an associate examiner for the American Board of Ophthalmology. She is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, the North American Neuro-Ophthalmology Society, and the Pennsylvania Medical Society.
Dr. Barbe is a managing partner at Progressive Vision Institute. Her personal time is devoted to family life with her husband and 3 children. In addition to actively participating in her children's activities, she enjoys running, field hockey, and lacrosse.
