In celebration of Save Your Vision month, we are hosting a patching party--online and in the office--to help spread awareness about amblyopia, and you're invited!
Amblyopia is the most common cause of visual impairment in children, affecting 3 out of every 100 children. Left untreated, amblyopia can lead to permanent vision loss. Fortunately, amblyopia is very treatable by patching the stronger eye. However, 13-51% of children are unsuccessful at wearing the patch as prescribed.
At Christina M. Ohnsman, MD, PC, we have been providing support for families who patch for 20 years. Our success rate in treating this common problem is excellent, with an average final visual acuity of 20/20 to 20/25. Now, we are asking you to get involved in supporting these families.
During the month of March, we are asking families to post pictures of their super patchers in our office and on social media using the hashtag #IPatch. We'd love to see lots of our patients wearing their patches on our Facebook page! On Twitter, please tag me @DrOhnsman. We hope you'll post on Instagram, Snapchat, and every other social media outlet you use.
You can find more information about amblyopia through our website. As always, our doctors are happy to discuss any questions or concerns you may have regarding your child's precious vision.
